If you’re visiting Stratford Ontario on July 1st, you’ll experience Canada’s 150th Birthday. This celebration will include the revealing of a revitalized Market Square. It is currently under construction and will be a prime location for fireworks and fun activities. We invite you to join us at the events being held in honour of our country’s major milestone. When you stay with us at The Parlour, you’ll be located within walking distance of the celebratory events.
Stratford Celebrates Canada
The events hosted by Stratford Celebrates Canada include opportunities to join their Digital Time Capsule. We’re asking our residents and visitors to talk about their experiences in Stratford as well as their visions for future residents in 2067. Create a video for this project by July 1st. The hosts of the celebration are also providing visitors with the opportunity to paint a giant flag and celebrate the community groups in the area. There will be a large parade to close out the event.
Town of St. Marys
You’re invited to join the free celebration of Canada’s 150th in St. Marys. The event is for all ages and provides plenty of activities, music, food, and entertainment. Beautiful Cadzow Park is the host of this celebration. Bring your family and friends for a day of fun.
Sesquicentennial Victorian Beard Contest
Our male visitors may want to throw away their razors for this event. From the first of May until the 150th Birthday celebration, this fun contest is to raise awareness of the group Stratford 150. Registration is free and can be done through Facebook or at the contest’s web page. Categories include best Victorian beard, best mustache, and the best mutton chops. Judging will be done during the birthday celebration. Follow the contest online, as pictures will be posted throughout the months of May and June. There are also local meet-ups for the gentlemen wishing to compare their beards as they are growing.
Live Performance by Buffy Saint-Marie
On Monday, August 7th, you can hear this legendary artist perform some of her favourite songs. She is mainly known for her protest songs as well as co-writing the song Up Where We Belong. This is a one-night only event you won’t want to miss.
